Disney Moms I'm Giving Thanks To!
As moms we don’t get the appreciation we deserve.
Well, I know I don’t.
Don’t get me wrong when I give my kids something or do
something for them, they do say thank you. What I’m talking about is the
random, for no reason “Hey thanks for being my mom” type of thanks.
These Disney moms, I feel, never got the thanks they deserve.
Sometimes as a mom that simple gesture can cause an emotional
flow of tears (in a good way) that we need from time to time.
I mean shit, I had 4 kids. That's a lot of months pregnant
and A LOT of hours of labor (not even the pushing part the painful give me
drugs part). Along the way I added another to the group for a total of five
kids!
No matter what, I love being a mom and I love my
(sometimes very shitty) children.
Here’s to 10 Disney moms that I want to take a moment to
tell them they have done a great job and thank you! 💗
Queen Elinor (Brave)
I’ll tell you what, if one of my daughters
turned me into a bear I’d be pissed to the max! She would have been grounded into
the afterlife and beyond. This mom had triplets that were insane and a teenage
daughter who was convinced her mother was only out to ruin her life. Anyone who
is raising a teenager (let alone a teenage girl) knows this women’s pain. They
eventually go through one hell of a journey and come out appreciating each
other a lot more than they did at the start of it all. This is one mom that deserves
a super vacation after all she went through. Nice job Queen Elinor!
Kala (Tarzan)
Not only did she take in a child that
wasn’t hers and raise him, but he wasn’t even the same species! No one could tell
her he wasn’t her son, no matter what. She wanted to be a mom so bad she didn't care if he was human or ape, she just knew he was a baby in need of love. That is a woman with a lot of love to give. This mom really warmed my heart
throughout the whole movie. The song sung by Phil Collins was perfect for this
mom, every time I hear that song its instant emotions. Kala you are mom of the
century.
Nani (Lilo and Stitch)
This is one of our mother figures.
After
losing both of their parents Nani could have easily let social service take her
sister and place her in a loving home. That wasn’t her style, because “Ohana means family” and family sticks by one another no matter what. Still in
her 20’s and with no idea what she was doing she stepped up to raise her little
sister (and their new alien “dog”). This was a great way of showing kids that
families come in all different shapes and sizes. Nani you are the best big sister ever!
Ming Lee (Turning Red)
As a mom of three girls, I felt for this mom. When your daughter is going through that transition “period” in their lives EVERYONE can be on edge. My husband hangs back on this one and lets me take center stage on the situation every month (thanks honey). This mom handled her daughter in a way a lot of us moms handle our children. With calmness until we pop!
Being a parent is not about being calm and polite and asking your child to please behave. Sometimes as a mom we lose our shit! There is nothing wrong with needing a moment, it happens to the best of us. I've had plenty of times in my 15 years of being a mom where I just needed to hide for a minute to collect myself. Ming Lee exploded and then recentered herself.
Shit happens, you handled it
like a human mom Ming Lee, it was hard but great job!
Perdita (101 Dalmatians)
This is one of our non-human moms that didn’t
get her props. She fought day in and day out to find her puppies after they were dognapped. She acted how
any mother would have to find their children. In the end she ended up being a
mom to 101 pups but embraces it. I'm a mother figure caring for my nephew, so I know what it's like taking on extra pups when you least expect it. Perdita you did your doggy thing and got your
babies back, props to you!
Eudora (Princess and the Frog)
Even though we only seen her a handful of times throughout the whole movie I think it’s safe to say based on the type of daughter she raised she is an amazing mom. Sometimes you don’t even need to know the mom personally but just seeing what great kids they raised can tell us a lot.
A single, black and widowed mother who raised a strong, independent
and respectful daughter speaks volumes to her motherhood. I take my hat off to
this beautiful mom. Her and her daughter are such inspirations, especially to
the black female community. Eudora three cheers to such an amazingly wonderful mother.
Mrs. Jumbo (Dumbo)
The song “baby mine” makes me cry every time I hear it. I used to sing it to my two oldest daughters when they were babies (I didn’t cry when I was singing it, unless they wouldn’t go to sleep, and I was exhausted. Then I may have shed a few tears).
Even though she spoke no words you could see and feel the love between this mom
and her baby. When they took Dumbo from her, I was yelling at the T.V for them
to give back her baby, she did nothing wrong, she was just protecting him.
At the end of the day all we want to do is protect our babies and keep them
safe and she did just that. Mrs. Jumbo you did a wonderful job protecting your
baby and got him back in the end. Hip hip hooray to you for being a great mom!
Here's one mom that had to face some serious
hardships while still trying to: be a mom, look after a castle and help a beast
fall in love to help break a spell to save her, her son and everyone else. WOW,
that's a lot and I thought I was a busy mom. Mrs. Potts showed us all that even
faced with the most unpredictable, unrealistic situations you can still be a
great mom. Teacups up for Mrs. Potts, your amazing!
Julieta (Encanto)
We see throughout the film how nurturing Julieta
is with everyone. With her magical healing foods and her soft kind voice she
just gave you such a warm feeling. She had such a softness to her that made you
want her to bake you a batch of healing cookies and talk with her for hours.
Two thumbs way up for Julieta, you're such a kind loving mom.
. Kanga
(Winnie the pooh)
Kanga was everyone’s mom not just Roo! Everyone respected her like their mom as well. She was so kind and soft spoken. Whenever she was talking on screen it just gave you a sense of calm. I want to be a mom like her, calm, relaxing tones and cares for all.
Although, she hasn’t met
my kids, she would probably change quite a bit. Anyways three cheers for Kanga,
you’re a great mom!
. (Bonus Mom) Big Mama (Fox and the Hound)
I had to add Big Mama as a bonus, she holds a special place in my heart.
I was raised by my grandparents and my grandmother was 100% just like Big Mama. She loved this movie we would watch it together often. When she passed away it was very hard to watch this movie knowing she would never watch it with me again. My grandmother birthed and raised 11 children, she was (and still is) my heroin.
Big mama was a mother figure that helped Todd and Copper not only become friends but stay friends. When they
needed her, she was right there, even when they didn’t know she was the one
helping them. Thank you for your love Big Mama! You are truly amazing.
To all the moms reading this just know you are amazing.
Whether you’re a mom of 1 or a mom of 10.
If you’re a single mom or you have a partner to help you.
Just know you are amazing and being a mom is such a hard thing to do. Nothing can prepare you for all the challenges you will face as a mom and every one of our journeys are different.
Whenever you can, lift up the moms around you and let them know how amazing they are. You never know when someone else might be struggling, especially another mom.
We are all on this shit train together!
It's okay to admit it's hard and sometimes you may not know what the fuck to do. I understand, sometimes I feel the same way. The best things in life are the hardest and if that’s true then being a mom is one of the best things I have and will ever experience in my life and I love it.
Thank you for being a mom you are truly amazing and wonderful!
